The value of the classification of the belt in the Martial Arts systems

What is the value of the classification of the belt in the martial arts systems? You might think that different ranks and belts of colors that represent denote the ability and in some cases, you would be right, but in General, you would be wrong.

"But a belt black must be an expert, right?".

Perhaps. Perhaps not. It depends on what you mean by "expert".

"OK, fancy pants, what I mean is that a belt black must be hunting expertise."

In this case, no, not at all. Many "experts" practical lack black belt combat faculty or experience.

This means that there is no intrinsic value in the martial arts? Once again, no, because a poor practical Hunter may have the right to be described as an expert and it is because people are studying martial arts for various reasons.

(1) Some people want to learn techniques of self-defense practice that "working in the streets."

An expert in this case would be someone who has experience of real "street fighting" and who knows how to translate the techniques stylized that he knows in practical applications.

(2) Some people want to improve their physical well-being.

In this case, an expert would be a person that has whetted, tonic and reinforced his body by the practice of his art training techniques and methods chosen. He knows what to focus on and how to obtain the best physical results.

(3) Some people want to improve their mental well-being.

In this case, an expert would be a very skilled person in the fields more esoteric or spiritual of his art chosen. It could have a thorough understanding of the theories on the subject of the internal balance, meditation or "chi".

(4) Some people consider their art as a performance art.

An expert in this case would be a person with the crisp style, impressive performance, or the ability to teach other ways to improve the aesthetic value of their own performance

(5) Some want to study the martial arts as a means to improve.

An expert in this case would be someone who can take the values of his art - perseverance, respect, patience, physical and mental endurance, etc. and apply significantly in all aspects of his life.

(6) Some people want to teach.

Here, an expert might be someone who has a technical understanding well balanced in his art, even if it could not be the best practitioner and highly capable of transmitting his knowledge to others.

The point is this, and it can be applied to a grade or level of the belt, the value of the arts martial belt rankings is entirely subjective. What is valuable for one person is without value to another. Otherwise, another way, a person expert is another amateur.

"Very well, but in your opinion, what is the value of the classification of the belt."

At the risk of seeming evasive, I believe that the value of rankings of belt in martial arts is that the practitioner believes that it is. I consider classification of belt is a factor of motivation and a way to signify that a certain amount of training took place, but you should form your own opinion.

There are many reasons to study a martial art, and the benefits of doing so are many and varied, but rather than worry about what others think of the value of the classification of the belt in the systems of martial, why not step focus on extracting your martial art chosen everything that is of personal value to you?
