Wing Chun dummy wooden vs. heavy bag

Almost every martial artist or hunting is familiar with a heavy bag (sometimes also called a punching bag). Even people who are not experts in martial arts or boxers always know what is a heavy bag; they are either seen on television, in the gym or hanging from a beam in the garage or basement of a person.

But there is a training device far less commonly known that step of many martial artists are: Wing Chun wooden dummy. A mannequin in wood is a wood pole which is between 8.5 and 9.5 "in diameter and was coming out, and a wooden leg, out of the bottom three 12" arm. Dummy arm and legs simulate an attacker arm or leg and to the student of Wing Chun put into practice his techniques against them, with force, without prejudice to another student.

Given that these two are used to develop the power and martial arts techniques, let's have a look at some of the similarities and differences of:

Development of energy - the two pieces of equipment will leave the student begin to develop more power over time. When a beginner to weigh a heavy bag, her wrists can loop because they do not serve in the force of impact. A similar thing could happen the first time that someone weighing of the whole body of a supermodel. But over the months, the student will be able to slowly increase the amount of energy it uses, and its strikes will become more effective.

Hardness - heavy bags are dense, but are generally fairly mild. This softness helps absorb some of the impact of the strike. In fact, a very high strike often causes a heavy bag to fold on itself for a moment that the hand of the martial artist or foot appears to be go in the bag. Wooden Dummies are difficult. They are made of wood. There is no "give". It's good for the arms and legs, that simulate and attackers arms and legs (which are also hard), punched the body is slightly less realistic than with a heavy bag because there is no softness. In fact, you can actually hurt your hand by punching a dummy too hard wood bodies until you are ready. To counter this, some people will wrap a clean cloth around the body to provide a little "filler". This allows the strikes more difficult to be delivered with a reduction of the risk of injury to the martial artist.

Blocking techniques - a heavy bag is not very helpful when it comes to blocking, as it is the only thing you can really do deliver strikes it. A mannequin in wood, on the other hand, has the arms and legs that can be used for the practice of blocking. Many of the Wing Chun techniques involve simultaneous blocking and deletion, and they can be trained on the dummy wooden; blocks with a hand against one of the arms of the manikin while the other hand offers a strike to his body. It simulates a situation with a real opponent where it is going to be real physical feedback when you block their attack and is therefore a more realistic scenario of training.
